Our service model offers holistic psychosocial support tailored to the needs of each child.
We offer intensive and long-term support as well as brief targeted interventions
We provide advice, advocacy, therapeutic support, education and play
Our practice model is relationship-based, collaborative and culturally relevant.
We advocate in the child’s best interests and work closely with other professionals to develop a network of support around the child.
Advice, Advocacy and Therapeutic Support
Our advice, advocacy and therapeutic support offers one to one practical and emotional support and guidance from an independent named adult acting solely in the child’s best interests.
We advocate on behalf of children to enable them to access their full statutory rights and entitlements to education, social services support, housing, health care and treatment.
We enable children to navigate the asylum process, including access to legal representation, support through age assessments, appeals and detention.
We offer counselling, referral to specialist mental health services and support through treatment.
Following an initial needs assessment, Dost caseworkers meet regularly with children to prepare for meetings and accompany them to appointments, interviews, assessments and hearings. They offer appointments as well as a drop-in service and liaise with other professionals to bridge the gaps in services.
Education
Our education programme promotes access to education, training and employment.
We advocate for children and young people to access mainstream education as soon as possible.
We aim to improve educational achievement and raise educational and employment aspirations.
The programme is delivered through a combination of classes, workshops, creative projects and one to one educational and pastoral support enabling us to offer learning opportunities tailored to meet the specific needs of each young person.
Play
Our play and youth programme promotes inclusion and belonging by creating opportunities for developing and sustaining friendships and encouraging peer support.
Our accredited activities (AQA, Duke of Edinburgh, V-inspired) provide opportunities for personal and social development, learning new skills and participating in teamwork.
The programme is delivered through a combination of regular youth clubs, sports coaching, creative projects and residential trips.
