Innovative 'Words to Recycle' Workshop
02 February 2009
A group of 50 English language students at Trinity Centre, Manor Park will learn about recycling. The workshop is an innovative way to introduce the Council’s recycling policies to adults who are learning English for the first time. The project is part of the Adult Education Programme that’s been running at the Trinity Centre for nearly 5 years. It is a creative and practical way to engage students to learn language relevant to everyday life. “Complex ideas like ‘the environment’ and ‘global warming’ are a challenge to express simply,” says Adult Education Co-ordinator, Luana Solomon, “ but they are important to define for residents new to English who must make their new lives living locally in Newham.”
