A conversation with Rachael B.

For our latest chat in the series where we get to know the Trinity team, we chatted with Rachael, who supports Trinity Centre with all our communications, from annual reports to managing our social media channels.

Can you tell us when and how you started working with Trinity?

I started working with Trinity Centre in 2012 - over a decade ago! Back then, I was supporting one of the youth projects with their independent website, and getting them on to social media.

What do you do for Trinity Centre now?

I've been designing and writing Trinity's annual reports since 2022, and over time I have added content management. That includes website management of both this website and the Nursery website - covering content updates, SEO optimisation to make sure people can find us online, and ensuring our website is accessible to all users. I also write the seasonal newsletter, and manage Trinity's Instagram and LinkedIn social media channels. If you're not following us - please do!

What's your favourite part of working with Trinity?

That would have to be writing the annual reports each year. I really enjoy designing something that will be visually appealing, to highlight all Trinity's successes across the year. I'm looking forward to sharing the next annual report later this year!

Is there anything you find challenging about the work you do for us?

We receive a LOT of enquiries about the nursery via the website, so sometimes it's hard to keep up! But that's a nice 'problem' to have, and I can't complain as Farhana, our Nursery Manager, does all the following up on those so she is super busy!

Honestly, I enjoy all the work, and I like the variety. The only challenge is my own - ensuring I stay organised across all the other work I do as a freelancer!

You're a freelance consultant, so what do you do when you're not working for Trinity?

First and foremost, I support my son with his therapeutic education at home, so that takes a lot of my time and attention, and is one of the reasons I work freelance, so that I can work around him.

In terms of freelance clients, I write and coach, so I only take on a handful of clients at a time to make sure I'm not too stretched! I tend to see 1:1 coaching clients monthly, and my main client apart from Trinity is a charitable project set up by Bringing Us Together - a user-led organisation working with parent carers, disabled people, families, professional allies and organisations. The project I work on is called Doing It Solo, and it supports solo parents of children - from young children to adults - with additional needs and/or disabilities. I run some of the workshops for this project alongside managing their social media.

When I'm not doing all that, I also take on short-term projects, like book editing, and I write poetry! I have a new poetry collection coming out next month, From the Ashes. I co-created these poems with women survivors of domestic abuse, to serve as a therapeutic companion for others who have been through similar.

And finally, what's important to you?

Being kind. Friends. Family. Writing. Communication. But really, all of these things (and more that are coming to me now!) are all underpinned by one thing - Love.
